e2gold.ca is an independent Canadian finance publication that quotes money and markets in Canadian dollars. Most financial sites price everything in US dollars and leave the conversion to the reader, which hides the effect of the exchange rate on what Canadians really pay. Here the exchange rates, metal prices and crypto prices are all shown in CAD first, with the US dollar figure next to it where it helps. The site is written for people who hold, spend or invest Canadian dollars, whether they live in Canada, work across the border or send money home.
Where the numbers come from
Exchange rates are the daily rates published by the Bank of Canada for 24 currencies, together with the Bank's policy interest rate and the Consumer Price Index from Statistics Canada. Crypto prices and market capitalisations come from CoinGecko, which aggregates trading across many exchanges. Gold, silver and copper spot prices come from gold-api.com and are converted to Canadian dollars at the Bank of Canada US dollar rate. Every table on the site names its source and its date, and the figures are refreshed every hour.
The E2Gold archive
The domain e2gold.ca was previously the website of E2Gold Inc., a gold exploration company that traded on the TSX Venture Exchange as ETU. Its news releases, project pages, corporate pages and financial reports are kept in an archive section at their original addresses, so that references to them from other websites keep working. These pages were written and issued by E2Gold Inc., and they are published here unchanged with the original dates. The archive is clearly marked on every page, and nothing in it should be read as current information about the company.
No advice, no paid placements
Nothing on e2gold.ca is investment, tax or legal advice, and no figure on the site is an offer to buy or sell anything. Reference rates such as the Bank of Canada rate are not the rates a bank, card issuer or exchange will give you, because those providers add their own margin. Before a large transaction it is worth checking the live quote from the provider you will actually use. The site does not accept payment to change how a currency, coin or company is shown in its tables.
